My First Book Made into a Movie! [SPOILER for the movie and book IF I STAY]

I've never had one of the books I have read turn into a movie. I didn't read Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Divergent, or any of the other books that have become movies. I'm the type to read romance novels or shoujo manga. I mean sometimes the romance novels I read turn out to have more mystery than anything but for the most part I read boy meets girl type books. Cliche, I know but I'm more picky with what books I read that I let on. But anyways, could you imagine how excited I felt when I heard If I Stay was being turned into a movie?! Like my cousin had her book, Beautiful Creatures, turned into a movie and now it was my turn!

I read If I Stay a few years ago and recently I've been reading Where She Went (the sequel) when I got a chance to slip into Barns N Nobles on my work breaks.

It was a good book and there was many parts that made me swoon. I liked how the book was different, being that it had to do with music. I have to admit that bad boy meets good girl is a bit cliche but what isn't now a days?

So anyways! The movie came out on the 22nd of August and I went to see it on the 24th with my friend.
I wanted to talk during the WHOLE movie! Lol. They made Adam so DISTRACTINGLY hot! He was so hot that he became my first MCM (Man Crush Monday) on Instagram. Ps. Jamie Blackley (Adam) doesn't look as hot without hair... (he usually keeps it short)

I also feel like they casted the roll of Adam well but I'm not sure about the roll of Mia. I felt like Chloe Grace Moretz acting was alright for the most part but sometimes I didn't like how she sounded and expressed her reactions to things. The other members of the cast fit their rolls so well! I was really impressed.

I'm getting side tracked! So I was ready to cry at the part where Mia sees the ambulance and doesn't know what's happening. HOWEVER, from how I remembered it in the book she literally stood over her family's BLOODY bodies on the snow. In the movie she only saw her mom's arm. I think that definitely took away from the impact that that scene was supposed to have, so I didn't end up crying.

Another part that I was looking forward to was when Mia was supposed to play Adam like her cello and Adam play Mia his guitar. I felt like that was a part of the book that made it stand out a bit more than a typical boy meets girl story. I mean they brushed on it in the movie but that didn't do it justice.

When books are made into movies, I feel like they omit all or parts of the book that the readers are looking forward to seeing in the movie. However, I guess you can't please everyone because not everyone thinks the same scenes hold the same amount of significance.

But anyways! Enough of the cons of the movie, on to the pros.

This is another inappropriate comment i have regarding the movie. Did I mention Jamie Blackley was TOO HOT as Adam? In addition to being hot, he could kiss too. I feel like they WANTED you to know that. There were so many kissing scenes! Lol.

I also liked the movie soundtrack. I want almost every song, especially the one Mia played at Julliard.

All in all, I liked the movie and I think that a majority of the movie did the book justice. I would recommend the movie to people that have read the book. For people who haven't, I am not sure you will like it unless you are just a sucker for love stories. I think they picked a bad time to release this movie because it was almost right after Fault in Our Stars came out, and this movie doesn't have as strong as an impact. In addition, people will compare the two  movies and as far as I have seen, this movie has been getting lower ratings.

But I cant wait to read the sequel, "Where She Went" and I hope they make that one into a movie too.

Vacation with Jewels

I'm such a procrastinator! I got back from my vacation Thursday night and I told myself I would blog about my vacation the next day while it was still fresh in my mind ... but here I am two days later! Well, better late than never I guess :)

So my family's default place to go on vacation when we all (my non immediate family goes on vacation with us also so it's usually more than one family traveling together) can't agree on a place to go is our home country. Jamaica!

This time we stayed at an adult resort (18+ meaning everyone can drink since Jamaica's drinking age is 18) called Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa. I was not really impressed with the resort because I have stayed at many all inclusive hotels with my family in Jamaica and this one was a lot smaller by far. Don't get me wrong, the resort was pretty but if you have stayed in as many hotels as I have in Jamaica, this one wasn't very special.

The beach was rather small but I got some killer pictures from it. Instagram camera is soooo good! I wonder if I'm the only one that thinks that, let me know what you think.

I basically took the opportunity on this vacation to drink (alcohol), rest, and hang out with my family.

There was not many notable times in this vacation other me being able to see my brother and my mom. I mean there was the time when the resort peacock attacked my food... good thing I escaped before it actually stretched it's neck and pecked my food!

I also got to see outside of the resort when we did our usual market day. Market day is when we take a day out of our stay in Jamaica and basically go to the (cheap) souvenir market and buy gifts for our friends. I hate going on market days. I want to buy my friends things but I hate all the attention the merchants give you! They're like come take a look, you can pick it up, blah blah blah. I'm like give me time to think and stop breathing down my neck!!!! I wish there was a way I could buy my friends souvenirs and not go to the market...

However, a perk of this market day was that I got to see my country! People are usually only concerned with the beaches and the resorts when they go to Jamaica for vacation. There is a lot more to Jamaica besides beautiful beaches and it had been a while since I have seen a lot and walked around so I was happy.

So I discovered a delicious tea when I was in Jamaica! I like a lot of things fruity like alcoholic beverages and tea. I thought I would share my discovery. It has no caffeine and it's all natural. I had it every morning after I switched from the lemon black tea one. I don't drink tea that much but since I had been drinking the whole trip I wanted to drink the tea to settle my stomach.

I just had to talk about my food encounters! I had some island fruits I hadn't had in a while, which was mango and ginep (guinep). Ginep is what I'm showing bellow. It's so good but if you feel funky about certain food textures this can be a hit or miss for you but I do recommend it. It's sweet and delicious!

I had an overall good time on my vacation. It was much needed after my job worked me hard the weeks leading up to it.

Nails Done

So I got my nails done for the first time yesterday! Manicure and Pedicure, the whole shebang! I wanted to get my nails done before I left for my vacation so I went to this place near my house named Polished. I think they are a recognized chain store so you should check out the one near you (if there is one). The inside is so nice, but they're always busy so make sure you make an appointment if you go.

The interior is so pretty despite the wait.

I got there around 6:30 with my cousin. I was getting a manipedi and my cousin was getting a pedicure. We waited until around 7:30 (they close at 8) before they called my cousin in. They called me in 5 minutes later. After a while of chitchating and watching this young girl work on my cousin's feet, I should've realized that no one was coming to do my nails...but I figured the same girl doing my cousin's nails would do mine after she was done with my cousin's nails.

After she finished she's like "I wonder who's supposed to be doing your nails". Now I'm like huh?! It was already 8pm! One of the workers in charge came over and looked in the water where my feet were soaking and saw no one was working on me. He was so confused.
Let's just say we were the last ones to leave the store at 9:30 and my manipedi got upgraded free of charge.

I wasn't really mad. My patience has surprisingly grown over the years. If I was the old me I would have snapped. BAD. Lol.

I love the final result though (I'll only show my finger nails because I have ugly toes...).

The blue (OPI Nail Polish) is so pretty! I didn't want the glitter on my ring fingers to be so prominent, I just wanted them to shine in the sun but the lady that did my nails didn't like how light the nail polish was that I picked. I didn't mind her changing it though.

Unfortunately they're not keeping up well because I didn't get them gelled cause I'm cheap! Lol. Oh, just in case you wanted to know, toe nails are just solid lavender (Essie Nail Polish).

My Intro to Me and My Blog

I put off writing my intro all day! I had no clue what to say but now I figured I would wing it starting with the inspiration for my blog name. I misspelled credentials on purpose people! I know how to use spell check (because i really suck at spelling...). "Crad"entials, is a spin off of my last name Craddock. So the name of my blog basically means the "qualifications of my life". My blog is solely my opinion and my view of life. I'm wondering if I am explaining this in a way you all can understand. I know it sounded better in head when I decided on the name... but moving on! This blog will be advice, reviews, fashion, opinions, rants, etc.

Now I'll tell you a brief snippet about me. As you might know from the description box, my name is Kimberly and I am 19. I was born in St. Andrews, Jamaica (my whole life, until a couple years ago, I thought I was born in Kingston but that's another story). I moved to the United States when I was seven and I have lived here ever since. I moved in with my aunt (my dad's sister), uncle, and their three children. I know it's kind of weird that I don't live with my parents (there's not a crazy reason for that) but if you want more information on that, ask away and I'll make a post about. Anyways! I'm starting my Sophomore year in college in two weeks and I'm not prepared at all! My major is Fashion Merchandising. Woot woot! In my spare time I like to read (stay tune for book reviews!), write, and just be on my computer doing random stuff.

I hope that as I progress in writing in my blog I will become more comfortable and show you all my colors. I hope you come back, support me, and read my posts. I'm going to Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Thursday for vacation but I'll be sure to blog and post pictures since they have free wifi!!!!
